Our Next Election: June 11, 2024, State Primary

Offices included in the June 11, 2024, Primary Election are: United States Senator, Representative to Congress (both districts), all 35 State Senate districts, all 151 State Representative districts, and the following county offices, which vary depending on the county: Judge of Probate, Register of Probate, County Treasurer, Register of Deeds, Sheriff, District Attorney and County Commissioner.

There will also be a ballot to vote on the RSU1 budget.

The June 11 election is a Semi-Open Primary

If you are an unenrolled voter, meaning you are registered to vote but are not enrolled in a political party, you will be able to choose any party ballot available. If you are already enrolled as a Democrat, Green Independent, Libertarian, No Labels or Republican, and wish to change your party, the last day to switch prior to the election is Friday, May 24, 2024. (Note: although some unenrolled candidates choose to designate themselves as "Independent," there is no "Independent" party in Maine.)

Absentee Ballots

Absentee voting is safe, secure, and convenient. For the June 11, 2024, election, absentee ballots will be available beginning May 13th through June 6th. The online absentee ballot request service will be available beginning April 2nd. Request an absentee ballot here .

Absentee Ballot Drop Box

The Absentee Ballot Drop Box at Town Hall will be available beginning the week of May 13, 2024. The drop box is a secure way to submit your ballot and requires no postage.

Voter Registration

Voter Registration is administered by the Registrar for the Town of Arrowsic .

A voter must meet the following qualifications to vote in a municipality:

  1. Must be a U.S. citizen;
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age;
  3. Must have established and must maintain a voting residence in that municipality; and
  4. Must be enrolled in a party to vote at a caucus, convention, or primary election.

New Maine voters must fill out a Maine Voter Registration Application and provide an applicable I.D. number as follows:

  1. Your Maine driver’s license/Maine State I.D.; or
  2. The last 4 digits of your Social Security number (ONLY if you do not have a Maine driver’s license/I.D.)

If you wish to change your existing Voter Registration, such as a change of address, please provide proof of new residence or if you have recently moved within the State, you can update your license and voter registration at the BMV.

Absentee Ballots

An absentee voter is any registered voter who requests an absentee ballot prior to Election Day. The voter does not need to have a specific reason for voting by absentee ballot.

Absentee ballots are available approximately 30 days prior to Election Day.

There are 5 ways to request an absentee ballot:

  1. In person
  2. Telephone Request: Registered voters may call the Town Clerk at 443-4609 during office hours to request an absentee ballot for themselves only. The Town Clerk will fill out an application for the voter and a ballot will be mailed directly to the voter.
  3. Immediate Family: Requests for an absentee ballot of an immediate family member must be made with the clerk, as these requests need to be made in writing on the application provided.
  4. Electronically: Registered voters may request an absentee ballot electronically through the Secretary of State’s absentee ballot web page. The Town Clerk processes the requests and mails the ballot to the voter.
  5. 3rd Party: Registered voters may fill out and sign an application to request a 3rd party to deliver their ballot to them. The Town Clerk will give the ballot to the 3rd person named on the application and that person will deliver the ballot to the voter. In this case, when the voter votes, the absentee ballot envelope must be signed by the voter and signed by two witnesses, or one “special” witness (i.e., a notary public, municipal clerk, or clerk of courts).

Ongoing Absentee Voter Status

Voters who will be at least 65 years of age by the next election or who self-identify as having a disability may apply for ongoing absentee voter status: PDF | Word. A voter who qualifies will automatically receive an absentee ballot for any election in which the voter is eligible to vote and need not submit a request for each election. Voters must return the completed application to the Town Clerk, Barbara Boyce.

Accessible absentee ballots

Accessible absentee ballots are available to voters with disabilities. It is intended for voters with print disabilities, which may include vision impairment or blindness, physical dexterity limitations, learning disabilities or cognitive impairment, all of which prevent the individual from independently marking a paper ballot.
